Starbucks decision on guns in stores

If we could get open carry in Florida I'd march right into Starbucks and buy a mocha frappee. They don't want to be in the cross-fire, they want to make money, they are abiding by the laws of the states, not sponsoring or condeming, why can't the Bradys leave them in peace. Why are these antis so ready to harass honest law-abiding people, why can't they harass the durg dealers, murderers, and rapists that are the scourge of society. Grow some guts soccer mom(saw one on Fox News) and go do something that matters and not yell at law abiding people who merely want to lawfully open carry their firearm. For all their fear of guns, the antis don't seem to mind yelling insults at the open carriers, I think they are full of this whole fear thing and are lying through their teeth.

Another news story, about "Gun owners bearing arms have been gathering at various Starbucks locations in states where it's legal to do so in public. That's sparked protests from gun-control advocates and kudos from pro-gun groups"

http://money.cnn.com/2010/03/04/new..._gun_policy/index.htm?source=cnn_bin&hpt=Sbin

(Also, what is the current THR policy about poasting from other sites? Do we just post the link to avoid possible copywrite infringement, or do we copy the text of the story to THR post?)

I wrote their CSD....

As suggested I wrote their CSD last night....

Thank you for recently taking a position favorable to properly licensed, law abiding patrons who carry concealed weapons. I will continue to support my local Starbucks shop, with and without my sidearm.

And got back this reply today....
Thanks so much for contacting us and taking the time to share your thoughts! We always appreciate receiving positive feedback on matters like this.

I sincerely appreciate your comments regarding our weapons policy and hope you will continue to enjoy Starbucks coffee.

Warm Regards,

I've emailed myself and there are 3 stores i frequent depending on where i am in town. At all 3 I've pulled the manager over for a conversation and let them know that as long as that is their stance they've got all my coffee business hot and beans as long as that is their stance and asked them to pass what I said up their piece of the chain. I expected at least one to have an odd reaction to it, but they were all pleased at the feedback and one sent me along with a free muffin lol.

man, when liberals can't even get support from coffee shops, you'd think they'd really have to start questioning their worldview

Using the descriptors "liberal" and "anti-gun" interchangeably is eliteist, divisive and counterproductive to our cause. While I aviod pigeonholing or limiting my convictions, beliefs and opinions to the confines of political nametags, I know there are many, many people who consider themselves liberal who are also staunch believers and supporters of individual gun ownership. Excluding them from the "fraternity" with derogatory remarks and snipes can only serve to weaken widespread, multi-partisan, vocal and unified support of legal gun ownership.

Until Starbucks' stand on this issue became public, the brand and by association its clientele were the brunt of this exact same type of derogatory "liberal" labeling. Pro-gun people come in all shapes and sizes and that is one important lesson that should not be lost in all of this. It would be great if the pro-gun community could focus on common ground and check the divisive prejudices that weaken our collective voice at the door. :)

If I were to buy a few of those five dollar Starbucks gift cards and donate them to the Brady Campaign/Handgun Control, could I write that off as a charitable contribution? :neener:
