Looking at some STARLINE brass on sale. Anyone have any input on the quality? I usually use Lapua or Nosler and start with the best quality, but hard to find right now.

I have several thousand of their straight walled handgun caliber cases laying around. Always been happy with it. Wears well (and I’m prone to hot rodding loads).

If the two you mention aren't available Starline would likely be my next choice depending on caliber, assuming you're looking for rifle cartridge cases...

For straight wall cases I always look for Starline first. Very good quality in my experience.

I like starline but at what level. Pistol or 45/70 no question first choice. Shooting 308 in Competition there are American made premium companies like, alpha and Peterson. I have not tested them but a lot of people are shooting their products in competition right next to lapua and I will put these American made products forward when people are looking.

I can't comment on Starline rifle brass since I have not used any. I can say that their pistol brass is good to go. Starline brass is all I use for reloading 9mm Largo.

For handgun it's probably the best you can get. For precision rifle it's better than most commercial brass but not at the std of a Lapua or Norma. On their rifle brass its length is the shorter trim length, which limits your options unless you want to trim short. I wish they would make it longer so you have more options during prep.

Dont buy it from Midwayusa. I purchased some 38spl in their bulk pack and it came in pretty much a zip lock bag and the length of the brass was all over the place I had to trim all of them. Purchased some in other calibers at a big box store in an actual starline bag and only a few thousanths difference.

I also forgot to mention that some of them something was up with the primer pockets. S&B and CCI primers wouldnt go off but the new bag of Winchester I tried I havent had that issue. Every starline piece gave me shallow primer hits while Winchester gave normal hits.

You actually measure and trim 38 Special? :p Man I am am loading 38 Special with the "Peters" head stamp on them and never measure or trim them.

Starline is awesome brass in pistol calibers but I would stick with Peter or Lapua for your rifle brass. Not sure what caliber you are looking at On the Mark(OTM).com or BulletCentral.com have Lapua in stock at good prices most all the time. They also have reasonable shipping and don't charge sales tax which is always a plus.

I have purchased a few thousands of Starline cases, mostly straight-wall pistol/revolver but also a couple of flavors of necked cases.

Never encountered any issues with their products. They all appear to be well-made, uniform and provide good service.

I like the .32WCF cases especially because they are slightly more robust than the factory-ammunition cases that I have reloaded.

I have always purchased them directly from Starline.

HTH ... :)

All the Starline brass I have bought is top quality.
For what it is worth; I have close friends have known Bob Hayden, one of Starlines founding owners, for many years. I have never heard a bad word about the guy. He has a reputation for being incredibly generous.

I have loaded Starline .44-40 and .40-65 and if I get back into BPCR will get some of their .38-55 Full Length.
And, of course, any 9mm, .38, or .45 I pick up on the range.

But my .30-06 and .308 target brass is Lapua and my .223 target brass is Winchester (same lot, weight sorted, and prepped.)

I’ve used Winchester, Hornady, Remington, Federal, PPU brass as well as Starline brass. It’d put Starline on top when it comes to fit and finish.

I only handload small pistol calibers and Starline brass has work just fine for me. I've never had any issues with it. Frankly, I have never used much other new brass outside some Remmington. I'm basically a plinker so my need are not high.

I've only used Starline straight walled cases except for 32-20. They are great.

They have been getting into bottle neck cases of late and I'm sure they would be excellent quality as well. I just have not had the need to buy any of late.

Buy directly from Starline.

Big Brown Truck left a box on my porch this afternoon. 500 45 Colt direct from Starline. No shipping charge, no tax...…..Great price & service. Unfortunately, because I live in Massachusetts, they needed a signed copy of my FID card just to ship brass.

I have used Starline brass in 357 Sig, 357 Magnum, 10MM, and 41 Magnum since 1996. I have had excellent life on those items. My main source of attrition has been through losses at ranges that make it hard to retrieve your brass. I just purchased 200 41 Magnum cases at Midway for .206 cents each. That's the first time I've purchased that caliber since 2008 and I shoot 6 different 41 Mag revolvers regularly Right now, Midway has most Starline brass at a 10% discount.

Good luck.

First time purchase from Starline last week 9mm luger brass. 500 rounds shipped for 80.50. Excellent quality brass so far, case lengths are pretty consistent .747-.749.

I use Starline Brass for my 6.8 Rem Spc. Never had any light primer strikes with CCI #41. I would buy directly from Starline again. I have so much Winchester and Military brass for my 30-06 and 300 Win Mag that I will never have to buy any new brass. Have Starline in 357 mag and 38 special and never any problems. Very reliable for me.
