Well, I started my handgun experience shooting the 9mm.
After reading much online about how the .40 was the choice
of leo and how it was much more potent than the 9 I switched
to shooting a Glock 22, the extra recoil and snap didn't
bother me at all like a lot of folks. After some time I thought
why not move up to .45? I still love 1911 style handguns
and think its a beautiful design.

But I have now decided to move back to the 9mm. Why?
Well its cheaper to practice with the 115gr target loads. I
think with todays modern bullet designs you can basically
pick your flavor 9mm, .40 or .45 as long as its the good
stuff :D

Anyone else come back to the 9mm?

Let me put on my Nomex suit first...

I've liked 9mm ever since I discovered the Browning High Power is a better pistol than the M1911. The M1911 is a classic, but so is a Model T and there have been some major improvements in technology since both were introduced.

Of course, I must confess I once owned a satin nickel Colt Combat Commander in 9mm and it was a sweet pistol, indeed.

This is one of those areas in which everyone decides for themselves, and for their own reasons (hmm ... kinda like most things). I have no problem with 9mm as a defensive round and would just as happily use it as a .40 or .45ACP. Fact is, it's what I most often carry, size, weight, capacity, and cost all factors in deciding to do so.

I used to not care for 9MM because the recoil was so light, but theses days I like light recoil for many applications. It is also cheaper to shoot of course. I bought a 9MM AR, and it is a hoot to shoot. It's hungry, and feeding a 9MM carbine is much cheaper than a .40 or .45.

I was sold on the 40 S&W when it was introduced. I've owned a number of 9mm's in the past. I do own a 9mm, but seldom shoot it. I'll eventually sell it when I get around to it. Different stokes for different folks. I really don't factor in ammunition cost when comparing 9mm or 40 S&W. For larger caliber guns, I certainly factor in ammunition cost when either shooting or selecting a gun for purchase.

I can't say I have ever seen someone dislike a round due to its lack of recoil.
I bet you HATE the .22 :neener:

I actually liked shooting .22's, it was just when I was shooting a .45 vs a 9MM, the .45 felt like I was shooting a real gun vs the pop pop of the 9MM. The 9MM just did not flick my bic, while the .45 did.

I shot my Buckmark .22 LR, a 1911 in 9MM, and a 1911 in .45 today. Had a blast. :)

I carry all 3 (9mm, .40 S&W, & .45 ACP) but usually a Kimber in .45 ACP. However, I like my 9mm's. Accurate, effictive, and cheap to shoot. What's not to like?

Haven't left 9 yet, the affordability keeps me happy.

Shot a buddys Sig .40. Couldn't tell any difference in the recoil compared to my Ruger 9mm.

I think if I go bigger, I'll aim for .45 or 10mm... I really liked the 1911 that I rented at a local range, and the 10mm sizes up well to my g/f's .357 mag.

Well, not yet. My first issued handgun was the M1911, then the 9mm. I sold my last 9mm and bought a 1911. The 9mm just wasn't as much fun to shoot. I think that if I found a 9mm that I liked as much as the 1911 I would definitely get another. I have faith in it as a defensive round and the ammo is cheap.
