Status of Milsurp rifles

Milsurp rifles of all breeds will be available for as long as most of us will live. What will change is price. Rifles like the K-31 will still be plentiful in 5 years, but may double or triple in price. Look at t he CZ-52's and Yugo SKS's. 3 years ago, either could be had for ~$80. Now, they're pushing $150-$200. But you can still find them whenever you want; you just might have to check 3 or 4 shops instead of everyone having them.

I have found that just about any type of milsurp rifle or handgun I want can be found in a matter of days. For example, this morning I woke up with the desire for an M93 Spanish Mauser in 7x57mm. By 2 PM, I had one.

However, if you want some of the cleaner specimens, it is better to look while they are still available in large quantities.

528,230 K31s were made; there will be no new "finds" of K31s released from any third world arsenals. Once all those being exported from Switzerland have moved, that will be it. I would imagine the cream of the remaining crop will actually stay in Switzerland, many are already in the hands of serious collectors here, and the shooter grades will slowly dry up over the next couple of years.

I bought a very nice 1941 Husqvarna M/38 for about $150 in the mid 1990s. Can't find them often like that now for anywhere near that price. I am sure anyone that really wants a K31 will always be able to get one - but they will never be this cheap again.
