By that logic you could blame all gun makers because they make guns that have been banned or attempted to be banned by the gov't. Why you're at it, blame all magazine makers for hi-cap mag restrictions, ammo makers, and anyone who has a threading machine because threaded barrels are banned in some states.

The "blame" directed towards Olympic Arms was because they were advised not to do it by other manufacturers, but they went ahead and did it anyways. Which lead to the surplus 7.62x39mm ammo being banned as AP handgun ammo.

The blame goes back to the Chinese IMO because most of the bad blood between that US administration towards Chinese goods centered around the fact that the Chinese had sabotaged a missile the US had gave them the guidance system for and then the Chinese stole that guidance system and reverse engineered it to use in their own rockets and missiles. Clinton got ticked because people blamed him for letting the Chinese have that guidance system so he started banning the cheap guns and ammo that were flooding the US market. All it did was drive up the price though. It kept the Chicoms out of that business and made us all pay more for our ammo and our SKS rifles. People wondered when the SKS wasn't included in the AWB. My guess was it was just another poke in the eye of the Chinese. They let the Yugos still come into the US but no Norinco stuff. It was stupid politics masquerading as a gun grabbing effort (they figured they should play it for all it was worth). It ranks right up there with the way the Congress drove up the price of Japanese cars. We were all buying really good cars, really cheap until then. The US auto makers no longer had to compete so they stopped getting better and the price of Japanese stuff was made to match the price of American stuff. What a rip off that was. I'm all for buying American but not when they're blatantly ripping people off like the auto industry was. It ruined the Japanese economy nearly destroying an ally of ours and it made consumers have to pay top dollar for cars. You gotta love big government for messing up our lives.

"Don't you dare exercise that right, because as soon as you exercise that right the government will take it away!" What you are saying is that it is better to voluntarily give up our freedoms to the government under the mere threat that the government will legislate our freedoms away? At least when freedom is legislated away, there is the possibility of overturning it in court.

I refuse to live my life that way and I applaud Olympic Arms for not running their business that way either!

For the record, I don't blame Olympic Arms (they were trying to capitalize on the market full of inexpensive ammo), just shedding light as to why some people blame them.

I agree with what you say, which is why Cowboy Action Shooters need to burn in hell for selling out the gun owners in CA. Once the firearms they used were granted exemptions; they actively promoted and help pass CA's assault weapon ban, large capacity magazine ban and unsafe handgun laws.

Do you have any more detailed info for that? I hadn't heard that and I'd be interested in reading the story.
