steel jacketed ammo, hard on barrels?

midway is selling steel jacketed 308 from germany:

I've heard of all kinds of stuff, but never steel jacketed ammo... How is that on a rifle barrel?

Why bother, Ammo Man has 1000 rounds of .308 with copper jacketed slugs for $520 delivered. Midway has some good deals, but not on ammo.

Also lots ranges won't let you fire ammo that attracts a magnet.

Not much worse than brass or copper jacketed stuff.

The steel is pretty mild.

A lot of 7.62x39 is copper washed steel.

Most US production of .30 Cal. M2 Ball (.30-06) and 7.62x51mm NATO M80 Ball is steel jacketed...

If you have some and think that it's too hard on your bores, please feel free to send it to me...

Having said that, the currently available, boxer-primed Lithuanian 7.62x51mm Ball strikes me a much better deal than the MEN at the price that Midway is letting the MEN go for...
