Hi fellas,

I have a weird obsessiion with "scouting" my .308 Stevens 200. It is a blind magazine (internal magazine attached to the reciever). I am wondering if anyone has ever seen a conversion kit to allow for the use of detachable magazines. I have seen a few kits that work with center feed type internal mags but I keep seeing references to an elusive "blind mag conversion".

Has anyone ever heard of this? Is a conversion like this even plausable?

Thanks,

Dan

I don't know; I don't recall encountering that mod for a Stevens. However, i'd suggest that you find a base gun that can accept striper clips; since the scope will be out of the way anyhow.

I would not mind that at all. It is just that I already have the stevens and I like it's "ultra-lightness". I am actually not going with a scope at all, just ghost ring irons.

It is more of a run what ya brung kind of thing.

Ive seen conversions for the savage centerfeeds. If yours has the attached mag box it might be harder.

Marlin XL7 (short action .308 Win) - SAME QUESTION?

I have been wondering the same thing about the Marlin XL7. Any info? And what would I use for the detachable box magazines if I could do the conversion? There is not tactical, scout or sportsterized version of this old-school (but new 2011 model) hunting rifle that I know of. So no factory mags intended for this. But there are dozens of .308/7.62x51 NATO drop box magazine styles out there that maybe could be used or adapted. Ideas?

ive only held an xl7 once, it FELT pretty close to the savage 110/stevens long action. If you can get measurements, you might be able to use the bottom metal from a savage to rig up a DM system.

I'm interested in doing the same conversion on my Stevens 200, did CDI have anything that would work with the Stevens 200?

The CDI is made for the Savage 110/Stevens 200. It'll work. If you buy a Choate tactical stock from him, along with the DBM setup, he'll inlet the whole thing for you for a fee. Been planning on doing the same on a Stevens 200 build I've been contemplating.
