So I bought a Steyr M95 today for $140 and 20 rounds at about a dollar each. I'd like to find out what the markings on it mean. So far I know that the rifle has an S which is the Austrian for the new 8x56R Hungarian, and that it would be H on hungarian varients. Anyway to find the year date or if its a Stutzen or a Carbine varient? It has a bayonet lug shaped like a T. Came with a bayonet and scabard with it as well, just need clips. I couldn't resist, it felt very nice in the hands with a dark well worn but good condition stock with a nice clean rifle and bore. Just love sliding the bolt back and forth on this guy. Also whats the little rod sticking out on the left do?
Any info would be nice.
