Basically a collector's item. The ammo, when you can find it, is expensive and recoils HARD. It is accurate compared to SKSs, AKs, MN91/30s and the like. Modifications are a very bad idea, the action isn't all that strong to begin with.

Ammo's expensive, they shoot about two feet high, and they kick like a mule. That said, they're awesome guns.

ammo isnt too expensive...getting there though..the milsurp is corrosive, has a straight pull bolt..and yes...they kick like a mule..go for it, i love mine

Hornady makes ammo for around $20/box (at least the last time I bought it), They are for all practical purposes a magnum class round chambered in a 7 lb rifle.
They are fun to shoot and have decent accuracy.
