Romanian Par 3 ???

Somebody (J&G ?) is selling PAR-1's (7.62x39) for $190 (pretty cheap), but at least where I live, by the time I've paid for shipping and FFL transfer, $259 would be fine with me, especially if I can inspect the actual gun I will be buying.

I looked at one at Big 5. It comes with 4 10rnd mags, cleaning kit, and sling. It is a pump action and takes regular AK mags if they are legal in your state. In the Phx metro area they sold out immediately.

For the money, looks to me like they would be a fun shooter!

Hell, if I'd have known that, I'd have bought one. I thought it was the usual one magazine, no instructions, no nothing, good luck! milsurp-style rifle.

I'll have to go down there and see if they have any more here...

I looked at it at Big5 as well....apparently, Big5 is based in california, and they can't (or won't) sell recent build semi-auto, thus converting an AK into a pump action.

It was UGLY as hell. Why someone wants to buy that instead of a regular AK is a bit beyond me.

why have there been like 5 posts about these in the last week. 2 today! is big 5 putting them in the flier or something? whats the sudden interest

Yeah on special and I think they had a mossberg 500 security for $249. And bi mart has a synthetic 10/22 for $169...

Well the wife bought one a couple of weeks ago...shoots Wolf .223 just fine...the trick is 'cleaning' it,getting out all the cosmoline, etc.

Because they are, with a few extra dollars, easily 'reconverted' back into an SAR...and at that price sold (and reconverted parts)...not a bad deal!

I thought about how much I needed one- since SA 7.62x39 AK's are illegal in my state- one of those closest you can get type things. I also thought about all the stuff (folder stocks, flash hiders, bayonet lugs) that could be fitted to a non SA legally. Then I came to my senses and said screw that idea.

Mine in 7.62x39 had extraction issues. The pump mechanism did not work very smoothy, a lot of force required to extract/eject.

The extra force would be because the recoil spring works against you. Of course, it assists with forcing a round into the chamber. I have not owned one, but the one that I handled worked well. But, then, it was a 7.2x39 version.

After I range test my PAR 3 later today, I will post pictures and give you folks a detailed write up on fit, function, and accuracy.

I did buy the one I saw at Big 5. Sure looks good to me. Took the cover plate off and checked the internals. Not a top end lathe job, but is chrome lined barrel and the action is smooth empty. I suspect I may have to smooth out the chamber, but buying unique guns and making them shooters is what its all about for me.;)

Update...

Our own 2nd range test last Saturday...

Went to the range with the Yugo and Russian SKs's,an RPK and yes the wife wanted to bring the P.A.R to see how it works on this our 2nd time out with it.We bought a load of Wolf .223's and even though the accuracy of it did surprise me,the 'pump locked up' and couldnt get it unstuck on the 2nd small mag...

Took it to the Gunsmith today...he removed a 'live round' from the chamber and had to 'bore' a deeper groove in the feeding ramp, but he said it was the 'wolf ammo' itself.Otherwise,he actually 'liked this PAR'...he suggested if anyone else bought one was to just try regular .223 ammo.So I am correcting my original post...
