I am going to buy 2 identical 1911s (I buy guns in pairs - OCD? I don't know)

It will be chambered in .40 SW as I keep my pistols in the same caliber for ease of stocking up on ammo.

Looks like that narrows my choices to STI and Wilson Combat. Wilson Combat is great, but overpriced IMO... STI seems like a good quality company.

So, Ranger II or Trojan 5.0. Slight difference in barrel and slide length is the only real difference I can see. They're both full-size frames.

Well, one is Commander length, and one is full size. One has fully adjustable sights and one does not. I was actually looking at these same two pistols the other day, lusting over them as it were.. but in 9MM.

Ranger :)

All-purpose use.

Is it not possible to conceal a full-size 1911? (I don't own a 1911 yet so I've never tried).

It is very possible, lots of people do it. I just prefer the 4.25 barrel for concealed.

I think my Trojan may be my favorite 5" 1911, to the point that I'm thinking about selling my Les Baer PMII because I don't shoot it as much as I should.

I like the Ranger II as well, but I tend to shoot my bobtails more, so it probably isn't my favorite 4.25" gun.

It's a toss up . . . based on my personal preference, if I could only own 1, I'd get the Trojan.

Sorry, I just can't vote for any 1911 in .40 S&W.

They make them both in .45 ACP and 9mm too. Just pretend like we're talking about whichever of those calibers you prefer.

You should get a GLOCK22, ah nevermind; I can't even finish with a straight face...

Trojan is my pick, great gun.

Glock 22? I have 2.... and 2 Glock 23s and 2 Glock 27s.

I know that the 1911 is a great gun though and have been wanting to get one (or in this case 2) for a while. I just haven't had an excuse to buy a gun in about a year or so.

:)

When it comes to Glock vs 1911, I just decided to say, "To heck with it" and get both. :) The Glocks have been great so far... I'm sure I'll love the 1911 too.

The only thing that might get weird is getting used to the very different grip angles.
