I have an STI Apeiro in 40. I bought a Dawson guide rod for it which fits fine but does not accommodate the smaller of the two springs in the Recoil Master that the STI came with.
On the Dawson rod is it ok to use the larger spring that came with the STI. Or do I need to go to a stronger spring since I don't have the smaller spring any longer? I suspect a stock 1911 spring would be too strong.
Any advice? I like the principle of the Dawson rather than using the plastic tool on the Recoil Master.
