Hey THR!
I had a situation a couple of weeks ago with my STI .45 which centered around a broken extractor. I was on the range and all of a sudden, my STI Ranger stopped extracting spent cartridges. It would feed, go bang but fail to even begin pulling the casing when the slide would cycle.
So after this happened a couple of times I inspected my pistol and discovered that the lip on the extractor had been sheared off. Range session over. So I took it to the local "1911 specialty" shop where the smithy told me he didn't have the part but couls order one and install it for $40.. Uh, no thanks.
The next day (monday) I called STI (www.stiguns.com) in Georgetown (God Bless Texas) and told the guy what happened with the extractor. Very friendly and helpful. He asked me what model I had, my name and address and told me the new extractor would be in the mail that afternoon!!
So a couple/few of days later, a visit to the mail box yielded a padded envelope with a brand new extractor. So with a sense of adventure, reckless ambition and two tiny screwdrivers, I cured my .45 of it's broken extractor for nothin..
This isn't the first time they've treated this STI owner well. STI is busy earning a customer-for-life with me.
