I read about it happening everyday: suspect approaches victim, simulates or actually shows gun and demands wallet, purse, etc. My question is what to do as a ccw in this situation?

You're asking a very open-ended question. Long story short, it's going to depend heavily on whatever the local laws in your area have to say about when and why you are allowed to draw, brandish, and/or use a firearm in self defense.

For a more specific answer, I suggest studying your local laws, contacting a lawyer, and getting some good training.

Depends, we'd all like to think it would be like in the clip. If you watch it close its not like its not possible.
Unlike another thread this one works best as a surprise.

WEG, that's a powerful handgun! Notice how the BGs are knocked to the ground by the force of the bullets' impact.

Takes big'uns to swing at a gun pointed in your face. But, at that point, what choice do you have? I'd say it depends on whether you're a glass half full, or half empty kind of guy. If you're lucky the BG will be stupid enough to stick the gun in your face the way the BG in the video did.

Had a gentleman walk up behind me, and grab me, sticking what felt like a knife in my ribs once. I swung around, throwing what I'm sure was the goofiest looking roundhouse punch in the history of the "sweet science". It connected! The badguy tripped on his own feet, he was so surprised. He fell down and hit his head on the pavement and I took off running. Scared the youknowwhat out of me. But, I survived.

Depends if you are in fear of your life. If so go for your wallet draw your gun shoot the bad guy, call the police and a lawyer. If not give the bad guy your wallet, or go on about your buisness.

I hardly ever carry cash, almost never. So I would laugh and hand over my $7 wallet. The credit cards I can cancel and getting a new drivers license would be a pain, but whatever. I really would not want to kill someone over the contents of my wallet. Unless I felt my life was in danger, I would just hand it over.

No, it doesn't look to me at all like the bullets are "knocking" anyone to the ground. They are FALLING to the ground after being repeatedly hit center of mass and in the head. And yes, this is the kind of shooting everyone who carries should aspire to, even if it takes years to get there. This is why we practice failure drills and drills like "el Presidente". You don't ever want to shoot anything with a handgun just once.

As for what I would do, it's going to depend on the circumstances. I usually keep my wallet in the same general area as my gun, meaning, if I can reach for one, I can also reach for the other. I don't keep more than $40 cash most of the time, and if I am carrying more than that for some special purpose, I don't put it in my wallet specifically for this reason. There is nothing in my wallet worth killing anyone over.

Whether or not I pull my gun and shoot someone is going to depend on a few things. I will have to decide on the spot if I think the person really intends to hurt me. If you give someone your wallet, there is no guarantee that they won't shoot or stab you anyway. If you think they are serious about hurting you, you must also assume that they are good enough to shoot you before you can draw on them. Most of the time, it's not going to be a good idea to shoot someone if you have already given them your wallet and they are walking away. YOUR LIFE IS NO LONGER IN DANGER. You will have to decide all of these things at the moment, and be prepared for the fact that if you shoot someone, the D.A. and the jury might not be as convinced as you were that deadly force was justified.

I might be really good and really fast. (Not as fast as Vincent in the video clip.) But the vast majority of the time, I'm going to give him my wallet, watch him carefully as he walks away, call the police, file a report, and cancel my debit card.

In one of Mas Ayoob's books, he recommends wrapping some cash around a matchbook and tossing it. A weighted metal money clip might work better.
