Hey guys whiff master here again I’m needing pick yalls brains again I neck size only mostly because when I got into this I was broke construction worker and that’s what I bought cause it was on sale. I buy new brass no matter the brand or lot number and I only get like 2 firing per case and my bolt starts getting tight sticky and I just throw my brass after a couple of firings in the trash do I just need to get full length resizing die or just keep doing what I’m doing I’m getting killer accuracy of that 243 the way it is right now but spending what I feel is to much money on brass

Yes, if you neck size for a standard SAAMI chamber you will need to full length size sooner or later depending on cartridge. And if you set up the FL sizing die to size just enough to eliminate the hard closing bolt, you should be getting many more firings safely from your brass and I doubt your accuracy will suffer significantly.

Maybe a benchrest shooter would notice the difference between neck sizing and full length sizing, but I don't know any benchrest shooters to ask.

Full length resize, use a cartridge headspace gage to set up your sizing die, and bump the shoulder back 0.003" from the unsized and fired condition. Your brass will last until you crack case necks or the primer pockets expand.

Don't forget to trim the cases. If the case neck gets stuck in the throat, you will blow primers.

I trim so I have plenty of clearance between the case and throat, so I don't have pressure issues.

Full length size might be the answer if you’re only neck sizing. You might even need to touch it in a small base die every few loadings. My current match rifle needs small base touch up after 3 firings, else I get sticky lift on a handful of rounds out of each hundred.

I should say so. I've got eight firing cycles on some Federal Brass, out of an AR.
To think of all that brass, wasted.:(

:D Just kiddin'.

Yup. A full length sizer can get more use out of those cases.
And since you are set up, all you need is one die.
And you may only need it every other cycle. Buy one that matches your set and enjoy!

What are you shooting?

Thanks again guys and Demi human the 243 I’m referring to is savage 110 hunter and it is bad dude. I believe with the 75 grain v max bullet if I had a good enough scope on it to see a match it could light it at 200 yards ok maybe it can’t quite get that but it’s a shooter for sure
