sticky extraction

Here's the situtation, I have a 617 S&W 6" that I bought new last year, Any brand of ammo seems to extract easily enough, except Wolf Match Target, it seems to shoot the Wolf Match Target best. I took it to the range yesterday along with 5 other brands of .22 ammo, CCI-Green tag, PMC scoremaster, Winchester T22, Remington bulk Golden bullet, Federal bulk (550) box and the wolf, the first group was fired with Wolf, it took several bumps with the heel of my hand to extract the emptys. I continued shooting the other brands without a problem, last group I tryed was again the Wolf, same problem. Anyone else had this experence?

.22s can be aggravating. Find one brand that shoots good groups, but it's not reliable or doesn't extract.
Find one that's reliable and extracts, but it's not accurate.

.22's are notoriously picky about ammo, and a specific gun will "like" one brand/type of ammo, and not others.
The problem is, each gun is a separate issue, and what works in MY exact same model, won't work in yours.
The Wolf ammo that shoots accurately in your gun, but doesn't extract, will very likely be the exact opposite in mine.

What you have to do is just experiment to find a type that does both as well as possible.
I used to go out and buy a box of every brand and type of ammo I could find, and shoot groups for accuracy and for reliability/extraction until I found one that did both.
Between brands, I'd clean the chamber and bore to insure fouling wasn't interfering with the next brand.

Bottom line, you have to make a decision on Wolf: go with it for accuracy and put up with extraction problems, or find something that works better.

Don't know much about the 617s but a lot of the older K 22s( model 17s), including the one I have are known for sticky extraction regardless how clean the chambers are.. Some brands of .22s are worse than others about sticking but can be very accurate. Try different brands of ammo.

Honestly, I have never been impressed with this revolvers accuracy, decent, but certainly not impressive. After my post this morning, and haveing tryed many, many brands of ammo in this revolver in the past months, I noticed some Federal Champion (bulk box) 325 rounds per box at my local wal-mart. I picked up a couple of boxes to try in this and a few other .22s I own. I must say I am fairly pleased with the preformance, no extraction problems, and very decent accuracy, I had one 1.257" group at 50 yards, this revolver is equipped with a dot sight, and of course it was from the bench, I fired three cylinders (18 shots) at 25 yards with three flyers, the rest is in one hole I believe a dime might cover. I shot 4 of 5 rams at 50 yards 3 times in suscession off hand, so I belive it may do OK in rimfire hunter. Are these group sizes comparable to the accuracy you guys get with your .22 revolvers?

It might be worth your while to polish the chambers; even so, some brands of ammunition are just slightly larger than others.
