I recently bought a service grade Springfield Garand from CMP. I took it out and put 10 clips through it. I brought it home and started to clean it and found that the stock had cracked on the left side of the action.

I emailed CMP and explained to them what happened. I new they had new stocks, but I wanted an original. I figured I would have to buy one so I asked them what my options were. They sent me a FedEx claim tag and told me to send in the stock. I stripped all the parts off of my stock and sent it in.

Ten days later, I get home from work and find a replacement stock waiting for me. All at no charge.

Thank you CMP. A great bunch of people.

Looks like a nice score. It almost looks like if you cleaned the stock up it would have nice figures in it.

I also had good luck with returning stuff to the CMP. I sent a service grade back with a bad barrel after much tossing and turning. I liked the history but really needed a shooter for Garand matches. All I can say is they fixed me up several times over.

This is the second time I've heard of the CMP making things right. Somehow a friend of mine was shipped a rifle with a damaged op-rod. The CMP sent him out one that was like new condition.

i really want to do the CMP and get a Garand.. the second stock is really nice.. really, really nice..

kudos to CMP for doing the right thing..
