I am refinishing the stock on my Marlin 336 and I have already done the sanding and wet sanding with tung oil and mineral spirits. The pores are filled and now I am going to use 4f pumice. The instructions on it are vague though.

It says to 'wet sand with 600 grit sandpaper.' Do I use my tung oil and mineral spirits to do this or do I wet sand with the pumice? It also says to put the pumice on a damp cloth with water or paraffin oil. I thought water was not suppose to touch the stock. It is sealed with the tung oil and mineral spirits (and 4 shots of wet sanding), but I am leery of using water on the stock.

Also, I need to replace the cap on the pistol grip. Where can I find one new?

I wouldnt use water at all. I've refinished several stocks like you have up until now, and as a last coat, I use straight, unthinned Tung oil, and let it dry for a good week. If you like the shine, you're done, and if not, lightly break the shine with oooo steel wool.
