I see from the expolded diagrams on the 870 which are posted on Brownells website, that there are two screws which hold the recoil pad to the stock. Once I remove these, is there anything else holding the recoil pad to the stock? (i.e. and adhesive?) I am talking about the Express models, concerning the birch wood and synthetc stocks. I want to swap some furniture around on my two 870's. Thanks.

No, only the screws hold the butt pad onto the stock. I like to put some light lube on the screwdriver so it doesn't disturb the soft rubber too much.

I put a new stock on my Express. IIRC the pad screws were phillips head. Then all you need is a relatively long slot head screwdriver. The stock I bought for mine included a new stock screw. Be sure and check out if both of yours, and see if they are the same length screw. If not, use the corresponding screw.
