Hey everyone,

I was just wandering if anyone has decided to stock up on some practice ammo like I have because I found a good price and the prices seem to be going up by the hour. Plus everything else that's going on in the world and for someone who's name I won't mention because I think it's against the rules!

Nope, you're the only one. It's actually pretty surprising we haven't seen dozens and dozens of threads on this. I suppose you're just ahead of the curve. I suppose there might be a couple here who buy an extra box or two if it is on sale, but I can't really see anyone loading up on ammo.

AMMO, who needs ammo??? Nahhh it's all a dream, you will wake up in January. Yes you can:D:neener::banghead:

I have bought a couple thousand rounds of ammo so far and got a $50 gift card for Christmas that will soon be turning into as much ammo as possible. It's not a lot, but it's what I can do for now.

I got about 2000 rounds also. How much is enough? Too little? I also talked to someone behind the desk at my local gun shop and they said that their ammo prices will double after the 1st due to material costs ahem Obama....... oh sorry did I just spit that out! haha

Reloading. That's where I've been focusing. I've got a few pounds of my preferred powders for each caliber and a few cases of bullets. Stocked up on brass a year or so ago.

I try to buy an extra box every paycheck. I've managed to hit almost 1000 Rds per gun just doing a little at a time

If they do, then you'll be paying for materials that they purchased months ago. Copper, lead, zinc, etc. are all down as far as price. Sounds like your shop may be doing a bit of profiteering based on public fear.

i don't buy ammo i reload, and yes i have been "stocking up" i guess you could say, i reload, and load some more, until i run out of components, and then do it all again.

well I hope the 32lbs of powder, 60K primers and 80K bullets will last me awhile. If not, I will have to get some more !

Perfect sales approach; it feeds the hysteria. If they believed that, they would buy as much ammunition stock as they could including borrowing money from the bank to do so.

I'm like Treo in that every two weeks on payday, I pick up a couple of boxes of ammo. The larger quantity purchases I usually save up for when I go to the gunshows.

:banghead::banghead: If you got sites on your guns you won't miss so much:what::neener:

Lets see 80000 bullets divided by 40 years is 2,000 rounds a year or 166.6 bullets a month or 38 rounds a week. Are you sure you have enough ammo:confused:  You only have enough powder for 33000 rounds if you load 6 grains to the round. Better get more powder.

Screw factory ammo and their blatant price gouging.:p I've been reloading 40 S&W, 38 spl, and 357 mag for 12 cents/round, for three years now.:) I'll put my reloads up against winchester white box crap anyday. I've also got a supply of 10,000 small pistol primers and 10 lbs of powder, plent of cases for all three calibers.:D Screw factory ammo!:D

reload, reload, reload. Screw getting gouged by ammo makers. Become your own. Pick up brass, look for deals on the rest and you'll be happier and able to stock up more.

Wally World gift cards come in handy. I got a Dick's gift card. I wonder what I'll buy?

Long before the current panic, when Wallyworld had the stuff for less than ten dollars a box, every time I went in, in addition to my other purchases, I would buy a box of Federal 550 round .22LR.
Now that the price has doubled, I pat myself on the back for my foresight!!

Let us say that I have enough to last awhile!!! :D

No since stocking up, it will be over in about 20 rounds, if that long.
My main concern would be if a new import ban caused the price of practice ammo to skyrocket.

I'm still hitting the range and shooting matches with $1.75/20 7.62x39mm (instead of $4.00/20 or whatever it is now) because I bought a couple of cases years ago when it was cheap. Was I an idiot for buying more than 20 rounds? I don't think so...

If all you have is 20 rounds for a gun, you're never going to take that gun to the range again. Seems short-sighted to me.
