Stocks Refinishing - Thoughts

Hi All,

I am guessing this is the right sub forum...if not please move...

OK so I working on an older Ruger 10/22...doing the whole modification thing...

I am torn with either refinishing the wood stock to it's natural state...stripping sanding...stain...oil etc...not really wanting to do this....

OR, what I really want it so paint it with some type of spray on or paint on epoxy paint......I am trying to do a camo pattern as well...

Any thoughts for any products that adhere well to either finished or unfinished wood that would meet these requirements...

This stuff will go right on top of the old finish.
Just sand all the gloss off to make sure any oil, wax, or fingerprints are removed first.

Can often find it at a hardware store.

I just stripped and oiled mine; makes it a lot easier to touch up the little nicks and dings
