Has anyone shot a Stoeger 8000 9mm? I believe it is a copy of the old Beretta Cougar. I am particularly interested in any "hands on" you might have as a shooter.

Thanks

I own both 9mm and .40 S&W. Both are excellent shooters. Very manageable recoil for both probably due to rotary barrel. Am hoping they manufacture Cougar in .45ACP. Will definitely purchase.

Beretta did make a .45 ACP Cougar. So keep your eyes open for a lightly used one.

The grip is more massive. I think I'll focus on getting one of the Stoegers, but not sure which caliber.

I have a Stoeger 8000 in 9mm. I like it a lot although I have not shot it much. It feels good in my hand and seems to point well. I got it for a carry weapon, it is a little large for that however. I must say that I am VERY skinny so it sort of makes a bulge. That is not to guns fault, just the bony owner. I have been shooting reloads with lead round nose and lead SWC. I have had some problems with leading of the barrel. I have used the same rounds in my XD and in a 9mm rifle. These have some leading but not nearly as much as the 8000. I haven't figured that one out but it is not a big problem, just something I have observed.
