Stoeger Cougar question

Is there a way to take off the right side of the ambi safety on the Cougar? That is to say, can I take off the southpaw friendly side?

I have one and I don't think it's possible, I don't have the gun in front of me right now, but it seems to me that it is held in place with a pin. If you remove the safety on the "right" side (southpaw friendly), I don't think there would be anything to hold the safety in place. I will look at my gun tomorrow (it's my truck gun) and check it out. Maybe someone with more knowledge will chime in.
