Stoeger what a CS joke.

Well, finally got the Stoeger shotgun back. Guess what? It does the exact same thing....fires twice then wont break open...shell wont come out. You have to take the forearm off. Then break it open...the punch out the shells with a rod....put barrel back on....but the the forearm wont fit. Now, does that sound like a defense gun? When it was returned the first time they told me they repaired the extractors....and test fired it.....well, I test fired it and it wont work. They have agreed to send me a new one. Stand by for further developments.....what happened to just buying a simple sxs....their not that complicated....and working right out of the box.

Me too Duke. Mine is gone for the second time to customer service. My experience so far has been very similar to yours. The send and return time is not bad if it was fixed when it got here.

Does anyone out there know how to switch or swap the triggers on a Stoeger coach gun to accommodate a left -handed shooter?

jgray- I can't help you with the switching of triggers around, but I do have a question. Why would you want to switch the triggers around? Seems to me they are the same way left handed as they are right handed. I'm not trying to insult you, I'm just curious.

Because the triggers are placed offset one in front of the other with the right trigger being in front. I am LH, and I shoot a DT SxS - it took me 5 total shots to get used to it - it isn't hard at all

shell wont come out

You mention this and then extractors - extractors only lift the shell a small ways so you can grab them to remove them - is this what is happening?
Have you tried different ammo? Some of the cheap steel-cased promo loads can swell and lock up a shotgun. Are your firing pins piercing the primers? they might be sticking out (and thus into) the primer preventing the gun from opening

I understand what the extractors are susposed to do, but they don't do it...they wont come up and that's with Win and Rem shells. The primers have normal deep piercing. I could not try to re fire this time because the forearm would not fit back on. It would not go back down into the bottom of the gun. You might think that if it did not like certain shells, after you broke it down, got those out....you could put it back together but you can't get it back together. Thus off the the Stoeger boys it went. Also, I should have said that the gun will break half way open to see the shells, but not far enough that the shells can be pulled out.

I just bought a double defense side by side a few days ago. Instantly (still at the store) I noticed the salesman grab the second one on the shelf (not the one I looked at). Stupid me for not checking....as soon as I got home I noticed the butt pad was about 1/4 in higher than the template of the end of the stock AND one of the screws had already fully stripped out the screw hole and brought out the whole plug of wood with it. I'm happy with the shotgun overall, and the porting is nice, but the attention to detail seemed very "hurried" and abrupt. Overall it shoots pretty well, and I like the two stage trigger it has (single trigger, two pulls) but the craftsmanship is certainly lacking. The easy response is "Well, what do you expect from a $350 shotgun? (good price however)" I'll tell you exactly what I got....$100.00 off the price (that's right, picked it up for $250) because I've been doing business with this shop for YEARS and the owner stated that he was "embarrassed" that Stoeger would ship one in that condition, and he didn't notice. He even called Stoeger while I was standing there (wow!) and chewed them out. He is the largest firearm distributor in northern NH so I'm sure the companies are aware of who he is. Long story short, some wood filler and new screws and glue did the trick. A minor detail but the QC is lacking. It offers a nice tight group, however, and in my opinion may be one of the simplest firearms out there to operate. The action was very clean. I guess we'll see what some good old country boy abuse will do to it! The break is a bit stiff, but I'm sure with regular cleaning and use it will loosen up a bit. The rails (provided) are a nice option, and it looks like they did make an attempt with the barrel assembly to deliver a good product. Something was lost in the pairing with the stock though.

Trust me, he was listening to a dial tone and pretending to chew out someone on the other end of the phone.

I also seriously doubt any manufacturer knows who he is unless his last name is Cabela.

Sorry to hear such a bad report of Stoeger CS being I have a Stoeger Cougar 8000 and has run flawlessly. I had bought it used and love that 9mm.
I didn't know Stoeger and Benelli was owned under the same company. Glad I read this thread and hope you get your shotgun back in better shape than when you first bought it.

Just to update the never ending saga of dealing with Stoeger CS....they were supposed to send me a new gun today. Called and they said, we will call you in a few days to give you a tracking #. It has only now been since April 4th they they began to fix, replace or what ever they do for 2 months, with me with no gun. I will never buy a gun from Stoeger ever again. :fire::banghead:

Sorry about your problems with Stoeger, y'all.

I have a Stoeger 12ga Coach Gun that I've used for SASS since 1994/5 and put literally 1000s of rounds through it without a hitch. I often carry it on my ATV on desert excursions, and it's always in my RV when I'm in it.

My 410 Uplander is my fun bird gun and has about 10 seasons use thus far.

it is made in turkey by an outfit named kahn.mossberg/maverick also has an over/under that looks very similar, that is also made in turkey

No it's not. The Stoeger's are made in the old Boito/EA Armantino factory in Brazil.

The Mossberg Silver Reserve is made by Khan in Turkey. I don't know if the Maverick O/U is made there or not.

Just got my Stoeger Coach gun back this week after the second visit to the Benelli Service Center. Same problems it had before. Had a note in it to use better ammo. I used Winchester AA, Remington STS, Estate, and Diana. I am not sure how I can use "better" ammo than those choices. I am very frustrated at this point. Especially when every other of my 14 shotguns will shoot anything listed just now.

I feel your pain, bro...really....same situation here. Mine is on its way back now that shall be immediately sold. Not even going to open the box. I don't want to risk going through this 2 month long non sense again.

I have a Mossberg 930 now that runs like a deer. Going leave Stoeger for those who like to ship guns back and forth. Your experience may be different, I certainly hope so.

mossberg has plants in brazil and turkey also.stoeger is made by khan in turkey,i called stoeger direct.prob owned/contracted by mossberg

Mossberg doesn't have "plants". They import cheap guns and put their name on it. From Turkey they import Khan Shotguns (sold as the Mossberg Sliver Reserve and Onyx Reserve) and from Brazil they import the "Plinkster" rifle (and no shotguns) manufactured by Companhia Brasileira de Cartuchos. They also have the Mexican made Maverick line.

The Stoeger double guns-- O/U and SxS alike, come from Brazil. All of them. The Stoeger autoloaders are made in Turkey, but not by Khan (I think it's Vursan, but I could be wrong on that).

Stoeger does not, and never has imported anything made by Khan.

Milkmaster.....outstanding video!

Mine will fire, but will not break open after firing.:banghead:

I mean if you bend it across your knee, it will not break open.

I am suppose to get a new gun this Wednesday. There is no way that I am going to subject myself to their insane CS of sending guns back and forth for over 2 months, so she shall be sold new in the box.

What I learned from this is I will never even think about buying another Stoeger anything.

I hope they will watch the video....don't understand whats wrong with those guys. I am not hard to please. Just give me a gun that I paid for that works without sending back and forth for months.:cuss:
