Stoeger?

Anyone have any experience with stoeger over and unders? My daughter confiscated my turkey gun after taking 2 turkeys last spring. I'm seriously considering an over under. Any opinions will be welcome.

Stoeger is owned by Beretta so the QC & Customer Support is there. Several shotgun makers have build operations in Turkey (the country, not the bird) because good craftsmanship is both available & affordable there. You shouldn't expect a Perrazzi, but they're a good value mid-grade shotguns.

Their SxSs were made in South America, did they change those too?

My Stoeger Condor O/U in 410 was made in Brazil, and it has performed flawlessly for the past several years. I purchased it new from Ableammo.com for $300 plus $25 local transfer fee and it exceeded my expectations, and has given zero problems. I couldn't be happier with the decision. I shoot it more than any of my other firearms.

Not really mid grade, more like low grade. Browning and Beretta are low to mid grade.

Not really. While Beretta does own Stoeger, they let their subsidiaries stand or fall on their own. BTW, Beretta CS sucks - ask anyone who has needed it. Beretta's QC is excellent, Stoeger is built in Turkey and Turkish guns are hit and miss. Guns by UTAS, (Smith & Wesson and Kimber SxS's) are excellent. Guns by Huglu still have a ways to go before reliability can be certain.

Guns made in Brazil fall under the same auspices.

Stoegers are built to a specific price point, and a low one at that. To do this, corners have to be cut, and in O/U and SxS guns, that means low-end quality.

I have the Stoger STF 3000 which they sell at Dick's Sporting Goods (exclusively?) which I bought for about $350. At that price range it works Bette than expected. It's nothing amazing, but it was worth the money.

A Stoeger is plenty of quality for under $400. Hold one and see if you like it. If you do, go for it, if you don't, get something nicer. Personally, I love the condors, but they're definately not Benelli's or Berettas.
