Hello Forum
I'm fitting a new barrel to an old toy.
Said barrel requires some trimming and I'm in need of a set of stones.
I'm looking for a hard Arkansas and a soft India. Would someone out here in forum land
give me input on what worked best for them?
Thank you

What is the intended use? Trigger work?

For knife sharpening I use diamond, ceramics, Arkansas, Jap water stones. All have there specific use. Ceramic and Ark stones for trigger work.

Ceramics are very good for many uses, do not require a lot of maintenance. Jap water stones are great if you want to put an ultra fine edge on a knife. These stones break down fast and require facing on a regular basis. Diamond are good in that they will pretty much work on anything. I have wore out several diamond stones (EzLap) over the years sharpening custom knives with the hardness range in the 59-61 Rc scale.

A feast of stones are available. I use the Spyderco ceramics, long blocks in various grits, as well as their shaped stones for specific geometries. India stones for revolver trigger-sear definition.
Draw file style stones, etc. Most will last a lifetime at the amateur level like me!

For any wondering why that feeler gauge is epoxied to the medium India stone, it makes using the stone smoother over the roller of the Power Custom fixture.
