I've seen several threads on peoples' reloading benches. Awesome and organized. I've noticed some have plastic bins that are stackable. They come in blue, red, yellow, and green.

I am new to reloading and trying to get organized. These plastic bins seem like they would be great except that they are open and would be susceptible to dust.

I am curious....what are these non-lid containers used for on all the reloading benches I see?

This doesn't directly answer your question but.......

I eat a lot of Noosa Yogurt. It comes in plastic containers with lids. They are the perfect size to store 50x .223 empties or 50x .38 Spcl empties or 100x 9mm empties. I process my brass - up to and including primed brass - in these containers. I put a piece of paper in the container (lid on) documenting the state of the brass: (Sized/Decapped, Mouth Expanded, Ready To Prime, etc.). Then when I go to charge and seat bullets I can pull a known quantity of primed cases off the shelf very very easily.

OR

They are Akro Mils bins. You can get them lots of places, but I've had luck with Zoro. Great prices and fast shipping.

What do you put in those bins? What about dust collecting on things stored in them?

I went to Harbor Freight and got some bines with mounting rails and stand alone rack system. The ones with rails line my bench for general storage and movable storage. I put bullets and brass in them so they're close at hand when I'm loading. The stand alone rack sits on top of the bench and holds tools like bushings, spare lock rings, Allen wrenches and anything else I use pretty regular.

I have two hung on either side of my progressive. One holds bullets, the other catches finished rounds.

Not worried about dust.

Right.

Akro bins seem to be the "standard". Hornady, RCBS, and Dillon bins are made by them. I've seen clear ones at the Container Store.

There are even some knock offs available that look the same and are interchangeable with the Akro. Akro bins have their name cast in the sides of the box. Harbor Freight sells a version that looks like Akro bins.

Stanley made their own version that nests better than Akro but I have not seen them in a while. I have a few that I use with dirty, fired cases.

I do the same as others, but since my "bench" gets put away at the end of the day now...Wife took over part of the manroom...I use boxes that close. I use pencilboxes. Store primers, bullets, brass in various stages, extra shell holders and such...pretty much everything in them. Once I get back to a permanent bench I'm using the trays.

Best prices are on www.zoro.com..small one is around 5 bucks from all the press manufacturers, .87 on zoro, larger ones are 1.42. Just bought a bunch of them, they come in your favorite press colors....red, blue, green, and probably a few more. They carry clear lids and dividers if you need it to be covered.

I just bought an Akron bin medium yesterday at Walmart, considering it was walmart it was expensive at $4.77. It was a medium sized which is about double the size I have on my dillon. I'll use it to replace the bin where the finished rds go which is usually full by 200 rds.

The brand name Akro bins are a better quality than the others (most of them anyhow...). In my case, good enough is good enough for most uses, though I do use the better bins to catch loaded rounds coming off of my presses.
