Storing Powder and Primers??

Seems to me that it was N140 in the cases I mentioned that corroded and pretty sure it was Slamfire who had the same go bad. I always bought and used VihtaVuori powders. I even carried it in the shop we had early - mid 90s.

They must use less stabilizer than American brands?????

I am not sure but the bench rest community during the early and mid 90s loved the stuff in 6 PPC loads. The only US importer back then was I think Kaltran Pettibone. The range I was shooting at and still do stocked the stuff and was giving me a great deal so I was selling it in our shop. I do have an unopened 8 Lb jug of N140 I may get to this summer. I guess we will see. :)

I built a storage box. Sides, top, bottom are at least 1 1/4 thick. No metal was used in construction. It will hold up to 50 lbs of Goex on two levels or various amounts of smokeless. It sits on a mover's dolly and it is stored in an outbuilding away from the house. The lid is not locked down so that it can vent in case of a fire.
Primers are stored in another building in original packaging on shelves.

Looks like the Arc from Indiana Jones.

Pretty darn cool, actually.

Hot weather & storage method had a lot to do with Hornady's kaboom.

It seems to take 8 pounds or more powder in 1 container to self combust, from what has been seen online. Pull down surplus powders need to be watched more closely.

Black Powder- Years ago, sellers of BP needed a special powder magazine, on wheels, so it could be wheeled out of a building, in case of fire.

I am like some, mine are in a drawer in the basement in a tool box. I do all my reloading on this thing:

Stays put, on the top two "open" drawers are where primers and bullets live rifle on the right, hand gun on the left. They are in the factory boxes and that is that. The bullets live there as well. Long drawer is full of magazines for all gunz that have more then one...it is darn full.

Bottom big drawer is where the powder lives and things like the scales, lube....I think that is it. On and on, works real well and does keep me from being messy. The wood top is thick and holds the press, and trimmer I think are the only things bolted to the top. Lock the wheels and it is not rolling anywhere....sucker is heavy.
