I have a Springfield Armory 1911A1 Milspec. It is just as it came from the factory. I probably have somewhere between 1500 and 2500 rounds through it. I have a slight problem with stove pipe jams (empty case). I don't understand what causes this.
This pistol stove pipes only occasionally with all types of ammo-maybe 2-3 times out of 50(mostly Win White Box or Rem UMC). I just started reloading for this pistol and had the same experience. I use Winchester cases, 230 FMJ Remington bullets, 6.2 gns of WSF, OAL right at 1.275 (from memory), and Federal primers. I crimp the bullets right to SAMMI specs. This is a good accurate load for this pistol.
I don't rule out that I may be "limp wristing" on occassion, but I don't think so. I don't have similar problems with my other pistols-Glock 36, S&W 59, CZ RAMI or Colt mustang. Are there any other causes I can look for?
Thanks.
