Found some 45acp brass on the range the other day, one of them had a strange headstamp. Its the left one compared to a std "modern" GFL stamp to the right

Searched the net and came up with this:
G.F.L./45 M11.
G.F.L.: Giulo Fiocchi à Lecco, cartoucherie fondée en 1876.
45 M11: calibre de la cartouche, M 11 pour modèle 1911.

So, its a Fiocchi and the M11 stands for 1911. But how old is this brass anyway?
Ive collected ALOT of 45acp brass over the years, much of it GFL. But ive never seen that stamp before.

Anyone?

A little update..

While further examining i noticed something else.. The distance from the "rim" to the case body is different than all the other ACP brass i have.

The Fiocchi is great brass...

What you're seeing in the extractor cut variation is just manufacturer variability in thoughts about how the extractor cut should be cut...

Military production may well have specified a 'shorter' cut...

If you don't want it, please feel free to send any of the M11 Fiocchi cases to me...

The other thing to consider is the internal volume of the cases you found. From the pictures you posted I suspect they have a greater internal volume, and therefore need to be loaded differently.. Not necessarily dangerous, just a thought to keep in mind.
