I have a Daewoo DP-1 9mm and just bought a couple of extra magazaines at a gun show two weeks ago. The magazines are actually for a S&W model, but they seem to fit fine and I read a few reviews verifying their fit. All is well so far...

Because these magazines are 17 rounds (versus the stock 12 round), the magazine extends about 1/4 inch from the botrtom of the magazine well. Also, the new mags are missing the curved finger rest at the bottom that I have grown accustomed to.

Here is the strange part. What I am considering doing is taking some Fimo clay and making a custom finger rest on the bottom. Fimo clay is used for lots of applications and is amazingly durable once it is cured.

Curing will entail putting the molding clay on the bottom of the mag, then putting the magazine in the oven at 230 degrees for 30 min. so the clay hardens. Will that amount of heat damage the magazine?

Is this a nifty hack, or a bad idea?
