Ok, I work at a local appliance and eletronics store as a repairman and installer for appliances, as well as some deliveries. It's not uncommon to get a tip now and then, $5.00 here, $10.00 there, a 20 now and then, even $100.00 this Christmas for a delivery of a Kegerator.

But today, I got my best tip ever for installing a cooktop and rangehood. The guy's a Sgt. in the local PD, ok he's the ONLY Sgt., he's also a avid hunter and gunnut, so of course we start talking about guns. While I'm installing the rangehood he starts asking if I shoot certain calibers. Then he disappears for a minute and comes back with a bag.

He pulls out a box of .303 British and throws it into my tool bag and says he'll bring a bunch more ammo down to the store once he digs out the stuff that he doesn't shoot anymore but I do.

My paperboy has a K98K, after I sold my Yugo 24/47 I gave em about 17,000 rounds of surplus 8MM that I had accumulated...since then my service has been excellent.

when i divested myself of all things 9mm, i forgot i had mags and ammo leftover... my brother in law scored 15 boxes of federal hydra-shoks (these were the boxes from back when they came in 50-count boxes, instead of the current 25's) and 10 non-neutered p-89 mags...

he wasn't happy, though, because he was wanting to get out of the 9mm stuff, too, and was now forced to keep the 9 to put all that stuff to use. he got rid of the p-89 eventually, and his wife got him a different 9mm for x-mas! lol! bless her heart - she was trying to do the right thing... oh well... some day he'll get the 45 he's always wanted.

I would bet, He better be bringing you your paper (folded in thirds with the headline showing) with your breakfast on a white tray with lightly starched white linen, of two eggs, over easy, toast, bacon crispy, fresh, hand-squeezed orange juice, and a nice single carnation in a vase.

:D

Sometimes it works the other way, too:

My son was home from Camp Shelby, MS, this past Christmas. They'd been having trouble with a partially clogged sewer for a week or two, so he called a plumber (he was employed by a large P&H contractor before he was called up but all their guys were busy) to clean it.

The plumber asked Matt if he was off for the winter from a construction job, since he was home during the week. Matt replied that he was home on Christmas leave and was heading for Iraq in March. Not much else was said about it.

When the job was finished, Matt asked what he owed, and the plumber told him to forget it. It was 'on the house', so to speak, and he wished him luck in Iraq.

His Nat'l Guard license plates also got him just a warning ticket for 75 mph in a 55 heading to the armory one day. He was packing up for AT and forgot his gas mask at home. The highway patrolman was, and had been for 18 years, a Guardsman.
