Ok I bought one of the streamlight 105 lumen lights so I can carry it around the house when needed. I cant stop looking into it! :banghead:and everytime I do Im blind for a few seconds. what makes me do this? about once every couple days I take it out and amaze myself how bright it is and then POW! i shine it into my face. please tell me this is normal . :fire:

i think it's the same reflex that makes you rub a sore spot on the body, or like when you run your tongue over a tooth that hurts....you weirdo....

:D

Please don't carry a knife or a gun or pepper spray. :neener:

I used to know someone who would run her thumb along the edge of a knife blade to see how sharp it was, along the edge not across the edge. She got cut a few times, more than a few times.

I think it's just curiosity and knowing it is somewhat painless. Sort of like when I was a kid we had an electric fence around a couple of cows we had. The fence power got kind of weak and would just pulse you if you grabbed it, so we did. We did it before it got weak too just to see what it would do. Even after getting bit by it a few times when it was first installed we still did it every few months. Oh well, doersnt'st seemedetsded tohh haavewedw aflictedted me mooch thougtrresdhg thiiunking buck on it nowerw.

Next time you feel the urge to look into the light, put on some sunglasses. Sort of like putting on wet rubber gloves to grab an electric fence.

Worry not, my friend. It happens. Happened to me when I bought my first surefire. My doctor told me to switch to maglites and get off it easy - 6D, 4D, 2D, then to AA's. I'm down to the solitaire, once or twice a week, and with diligence (and lots of prayer) I hope to be free of it soon.

:D

Somebody joked about pepper spray - tell you what, that's one test I never had to do twice.

seriously though, try shining it against a wall in a dark room instead. I can't imagine your eyes are built to handle that forver.

Off Topic

LOL Cyclist reminded me of when I was a kid and we used to intentionally have peeing contests on the electric fence. Full power. Makes for an interesting, "I'll do it if you do it." :what:

I just bought a 9v UltraFire flashlight that has a Zenon bulb and I use it for doing QC inspections on aircraft and it is bright enough that I noticed that when I held it up to my fingers, so it was shining on the backside, I could see the arteries in them.:what: Talk about x-Ray vision!
And then the other day, I sat down in a chair and it inadvertently turned on without me knowing. After about 1.5 minutes, I felt a burning sensation on my side. So, i stick my hand down to feel what is happening and I came up with melted holster! The light actually melted the heavy nylon holster cover and was now roasting me!
I don't think I can trust this for work around aircraft now, due to it's potential to cause heat damage or even worse, a fire. But d@mn, it sure is bright!:banghead:
