I've tried to find threads on this one without success, so here goes: I want something like this to attach to my Sig P226 MK25 with the true Picatinny rail on the underside of the slide in front of the trigger guard. Anyone have any experience with this light? Looks pretty good on the website & the reviews are good, just wondering if anyone has put one on a Sig. So far I haven't been able to find a holster for it, thinking maybe I can for one with a light...

The TLR-1 is a great light. Midway has 'em on sale regularly. I have one mounted on a SIG P-226. It comes with adapters for different brand's rails. Safariland makes some good ALS holsters (including paddle versions) for this exact combination.

Don't get sucked in to the lights that tout way more lumens. The TLR-1 has all the lumens you need for a home-defense pistol and a good throw unless you plan on needing it for clearing warehouses or airplane hangers.

The TLR-1 is totally basic, all you need, nothing you don't. I think Galco and DeSantis make stock holsters for railed SIG P-226s with or without this light. You can also order one from Kramer for that combination.

I've got a TLR-2, same light with a laser. Built solid, easy to install, batteries are a bit of a pain to change. I'm not a "tactical" kind of guy but it's held up through everything I've put it through so far - finish is worn and dinged up some but still functions. Mine's on a Glock with standard rail, it should fit any handgun with rail equally well. Holster will take some looking but they're out there, selection might be limited. You might be better off contacting some of the custom holster places if you have something particular in mind.

Just playing devil's advocate, but do you need all that light on your 226? Have you given any thought to the TLR-3 which sells for $30 less?

I've got the same model (fitted to a SIG Model 226). Love this light/laser but, as you said, changing the battery is unnecessarily complicated.

I've been happy with my TLR-1 for nearly 10 years that included two trips to Afghanistan mounted on an M-4. Snow, rain, mud, and getting banged around in the back of an MRAP and humped from here to eternity didn't bust it. Since retiring it, the light lives on an HD pistol.

I love gear that just works. The TLR-1 is one of those.

With these comments I am going to try the TLR-1. If I decide I want a laser, I'll move it to one of the Glocks, but it sounds like exactly what I am looking for. Old Dog, I will check into your suggestions for a holster - really aggravating that the MK-25 won't fit into the non-milspec rail friendly holsters - I can't stand letting any pistol flop around unprotected, or unable to carry it except the basic in-waist-band :scrutiny:

Yep, mine came with the batteries in little plastic tubes. After struggling with battery installation with two of them, I finally figured out the tube was a battery installation aid. Some people just can't be helped, but I have an excuse ... I'm old.

The MK25 is different, but it has been on the market for a while now. Most holster makers produce a holster for the MK25. There are lots of kydex makers for the gun with the light mounted, but not as many leather makers for the gun with the light mounted, other than duty holsters.

Be aware a holster made for the gun with the light mounted, usually (almost always) won't work for the gun without the light mounted.

JTQ, understood. What I would like is a nice holster for the pistol without light, preferably leather, and another (kydex, whatever) for it with the light mounted. I think the quick mount feature would be amenable to carrying the light in a pocket & mounting when needed...

Pick whatever leather maker you like, I think most of them will offer a holster for the MK25. I don't know for sure, but I suspect the following should cover your MK25.
