Alright, I know I'm going to take flak for this but I need help. I finally ponied up and bought a nice cleaning rod (J Dewey 44") after breaking 3 sectional rods in just as many days. I went to use it for the first time today on my Mosin and... it gets stuck. Can't move it one way or another. After pulling and pushing with all my strength, I decide maybe if I tap it all the way through, the cleaning patch will come out and it'll become unstuck. Wrong answer! The rod came all the way through but without the patch!! So I unscrew the patch attachment and tried pulling the rod back through the other way to no avail. So now the rod is stuck about 5/6 of the way down the barrel and won't move in any direction.

Do you guys have any suggestions to try?

I feel retarded :banghead:

If I were caught in this situation, which almost happened to me when I had put an extra patch on the cleaning jag and rammed it into my M44, I would soak the barrel in Windex, WD40 or some other kind of lube. I would then try to use another set of rods to gently tap the trapped rod out using a small hammer. I would use sharp frequent taps over big hard swings. I would try to remove it in the opposite direction that I jammed it in.

Failing that, I might try compressed air if you are pretty sure it is completely plugged. Point it in a safe direction first. (Try at your own risk, my friend.)

marvels mystery oil is VERY thin id try to tape like a bottle to the barrel and water sel the tape so you can fill the bottle and it drain slowly through the rod, but start with any very thin lubricant, at this point i say the rod isnt worth the price of the rifle, I would let the lubricant seep in for a day make sure itssomewhere where if the fluid leaks on the floor its ok, id then clamp the rod to a vice and pull it myself, other option is a gunsmith.

I got it out!! I took the cleaning rod that came with the rifle and put it in the other side and tapped on it gently with a rubber mallet. That was a really frustrating experience!

AWSOME not as bad as one time i used a 22 mag case cut the round off inserted a 22 lr and fired it and it got stuck in the chamber then i used a cleaning rod to get the case out and it got so so stuck to the rod had to cut the rod out from the runway in the bolt lol
