Stuck Primer - Taking things for granted OR How I jammed things up by not paying attention.

Charlie98,

I've probably got around 2k of those same primers, maybe 3, and like you, I had them blow out on 41 loads but in new Starline brass. The loads were the same loads I had been shooting for 20+ years and not top end at all. It had .e completely messed up.

I might load up a few and see if they will run with my 185gr SWC loads which only use 4.2gr of Bullseye.

"Ringers" are caused by wet tumbling without removing the primers. I've seen it with range brass I pick up that has been wet from rain. I won't buy brass that has been wet tumbled without removing the primers before tumbling.
I’ve not found that to be the case (sic). During the shortage of ‘08, trying to find brass was an issue and our range had some really old stuck in the mud cases. They dry tumbled clean after days and were fine when it came to de-priming. About the same time I switched to wet tumbling, just to try to get them cleaner faster. It worked, and, I still wet tumble with primers in, dry them, store them, and reload them. This is across various calibers 9/40/45/38/223/06. The only issue I’ve had is with 9mm Federal NT, and, it might have only been with a specific lot of them.

Moisture and time.

Happens to bullets in case necks to a degree if old enough. Have heard it called galvanic corrosion/cold welding etc.

Loaded rounds that are very old can do it and "bullet hold" will be off the charts. Reseating slightly deeper breaks that grip.

I've never had a primer do that, but it obviously happens from time to time.
