I currently have a Springfield Loaded target 1911 am thinking on trading it for a Sig Sauer P226 Platinum Elite 40 S&W. Would it make sense to do it?
Should there be a accuracy difference and any reliability difference?
Alos not shot a 40 S&W how does it compare to the 45 ACP

Never been a big Springfield fan, I like Colts.(yes i know it is the same gun) But I love Sigs.
Two completely different set ups. It would be hard to compare them.
I find the 40 to be very snappy compared to a 45. I prefer the 9mm to the 40 as it is easier to control. And I really like the 45 as it is much more user friendly.
As in reloading. The 45 feels slower in the hand. It is like the 357 and the 38.
Lots of blast from the 357 and the 40. easy to control the 45 and the 38.
Try to shoot the guns together if you can. It would be easier to make your choice then.

My Springfield is very accurate im wondering if the Sig was be as accurate?
ve not had on feeding or ejection probs but i do feel the Sig might be more reliable.

IMO on the two different types of guns.:scrutiny:
The sig will be a better shooter and more reliable.;)
Now that will get some guys shouting, and I don't want that.:cuss:
This is JMO.

Prices seem about equal, so it boils down to which you prefer.

Nope. It's all about which YOU shoot better. I like the sights on the springfield target better. I'm not saying they are superior to the adjustable sig sights, just that I like them better and I shoot better with them.

Strictly subjective. IMO, in 2 similarly weighted weapons....I find the 45 to be softer shooting and the 40 to be a bit snappier. I stay on target with a 45 more easily.

A 1911 should never, ever be given up for a non-1911 ;).

But seriously, if you prefer the Sig, get the Sig.

I personally find 9mm to be snappier than .45, even though the overall energy is less than the .45.

Having said that, I'm going to be picking up a compact .40 to complement by .45 for ccw purposes when the .45 is too big.

Smile

Which gun puts a bigger smile on your face.............in my case that would be the 1911 of course:D

I wouldn't do it but it is your gun and your money. Forget the pistols, I wouldn't trade calibers from .45ACP to .40S&W.

You'll notice the .40 recoil more than the .45ACP.

thats a nice looking gun. not my taste though. i just prefer the ergonomics of the 1911 over any other handgun i have handled or shot.

but, life is short don't do anything that you will regret (one way or the other)

When I got the 1911 Target that was its main purpose. am now finding my self wanting to carry it. The biggest issue i have with it although great adjustable sights,is that there all black.hard for older eyes to see.much less it had to use in dark.It had always perfermed well but have pnly shot ball ammo. ve just read that the Sigs newerdesign should work with all ammo
