Stupid question maybe, but has an AR platform rifle in .30-06 ever been attempted?

Maybe it's a stupid question:eek:, but there's ARs in .308 and even though there only seems to be one or two manufacturerer's that make em, there's ones in .300 WinMag and .338 Lapua. I'm just wondering if it's ever been attempted with the good ol' 06? If not, I'd like to see it one of these days, as well as other chamberings of similar size like .25-06 or .270

Wow, a .30-06 AR is actually a thing, but at $2000 for just the rifle alone, (unless I win the lottery or some crap) I think I'll stick to shooting the 06 out of bolt actions, or a Garand if I ever decide to get one, likely will

Check out Ohio Ordinance Works HCAR in this video. 30-06 semi auto AR style rifle
The HCAR is based on the original BAR (not the modern hunting rifle of the same name), and is unrelated to AR-10 / scaled up AR-10 type rifles.

A modernized tactical M1918 BAR? Part of me thinks that's cool, but the other part of me just just dosen't know what to think...
I think the $4700 price tag will dissuade many would be buyers.

I remember many years ago a company named Cobb Engineering developed an AR lower with a modular magwell. They made magwells and uppers for calibers up into belted magnum range. This was pre WSM days. They were gobbled up by Cerebus along with Remington and Chrysler.

They may have been called Cobb manufacturing. There is a similarly named auto tuning company I may be confusing.

If I were to consider stepping up the AR/LR platform from my LR308 it would be in a 300 WSM and not a 30-06.

I'd hurry up on the Garand if you want to get it for under $2k. They'll be up there before you know it...

Also, $2000 really isn't that much for a rifle.
