I have 2 G23s on hand, one with extended mag and slide releases and one stock. For reasons clear only to me, I want to swap the extended bits to the other gun. How hard is this?
Thank you... very cool. It doesn't mention the mag release, however... and is there any trick to getting the slide release lever back into its groove in the trigger pin?
IIRC, if you remove the slide and look down the mag well from the top, you'll see that the mag catch is held in by an embedded spring. Using a long, thin screwdriver, you can move the spring to a notch where the spring can then be pried outward. Once the spring's out, the mag catch comes out. Reverse for installation.
I jiggled my top pin back and forth a bit til the slide catch spring popped into place.
That vid's of a Kel-Tec... is the procedure the same? I read the Glock armorer's manual bit on that and it sounded a bit different.... don't think you have to remove the spring to get the release out, just pry the end of the spring out of the notch in the release or something.
Whoops. Deleted the first youtube when I realized it was a Kel-Tec. Sorry!
Forgot to add: Make sure you're pressing the mag release in to expose the notch for the spring removal. (You are correct--you do not need to completely remove the spring, just pry it outward enough for the mag release to clear.)
