Just decided on a Sturdy 72x48x27.

Curious if any of you have made any functional modifications to your Sturdy Safes (internal organization, lighting, door panels, desiccant units, etc...)

Any ideas or picks would be appreciated.

I bought a dehumidifier but found it superfluous here outside Phoenix though you might find one useful in Houston.

After several months I'm still seeking nirvana as to arrangement for my assortment of handguns and rilfes. I support strongly the CMP :D. Already I anticipate future expansion will be an issue but as things are still in a state of flux and I'm out of money the space issue is not pressing.

The little battery powered LED light modules you can get at Walmart work very well for illuminating the inner recesses of your sanctum. Outside of the lights, nothing I use will be a store-bought gunsafe accessory. I opted out of insulation so I've got lots of nice cubbyholes in the door to play with. Powder and primers go there against torch attack. Carpet and velcro for the rest once dust settles. Or maybe I'll line mine with hardwood paneling or ...

I would compliment it with an Amsec safe... Just kidding. Sorry.

The BEST inexpensive item I found is the 8-dish $3 rubbercoated metal dishracks at Walmart. Holds 8 handguns vertically perfectly!!!! And incredibly cheap. Also space beneath for paperwork, magazines, etc.

Haven't done it yet, but I think that a couple of those lights that stick to a surface (like the temporary closet lights) would be useful.

Leadcouncil - your killing me!

I thought you'd be proud of me for blowing off the nice shiny interior & design aspects of the AmSec.

I guess if you are stuck trying to decide between AmSec BF & Sturdy the best thing to do is fire a couple questions off to Terry at Sturdy. Chances are he will call back, answer your questions & you will be a new Sturdy customer.

Anyway - I digress.

I will be fashioning some sort of wires lighting for mine & will keep you posted.
It may look like the picture Keizer posted or I may use the LED light rope. I'll get some coaching on wiring from Keizer so I don't start a fire inside the safe.

I asked Terry to include a power hole in the rear of the safe.

Good idea on the dish rack.
