Already set with a 9mm PCC. The club I'm a member of is really pretty awful when it comes to PCC's as I'm either stuck shooting them inside with a max range of 15 yards or the rifle range where it's pointless to shoot at paper with open sights further than 25 yards and the steel plates they have are 200 yards away, a bit too far for a pistol caliber.

Basically, for my situation a handgun is going to be more enjoyable and less restricted as to where I can shoot it at my range.
That is a bummer, out of curiosity, do you have an accurate .22 ? Ammo is available and relatively inexpensive. Shooting from 10 to 25 yards can be fun, and there are some available options new and used out there at or below your price range.

I have been shooting a lot more .22 and .22 mag during this pandemic due to ammo inventory and/or availability just to keep me from getting rusty. Both pistol, revolver and rifle.

most people already have one or two, just throwing this out for consideration.

All set with .22's, just looking for something that is cheap to shoot and offers more recoil while shooting and isn't a Glock.

A Glock would be out of you budget, even a used one.
There are a lot of used guns out there right now. If you look, you can find a good quality 9mm within your budget. Hell, there are even new ones within your budget that are of good quality.
Finding a good 9mm today is about as easy as finding a rock on a gravel road.

Have 3 Glocks, all the best caliber that isnt 9mm. Shooting Aluminum case 9mm in the G35 with the conversion barrel it ejects very weakly and directly into my face.

If its range only why on earth would you want go cheap?
True, but that can be applied to any gun. "If it's a hunting gun, why would you want to go cheap". I do get your premise though. A cheap "range gun" can be frustrating.

Op, If you're set at the $300 price point for a "range gun" in 9mm then I'd look at the Hi-Point 995 carbine. Eventually put a Bushnell trs-25 on it. It's not the handgun you're looking for, but man are they cheap and fun.

Did you put a 9mm extractor in it when you put the 9mm barrel in?
No as I do also shoot .40 in it occasionally. I figure if the .40 extractor and ejector can worn with 9mm, it's gonna stay that way.

Another reason I want a dedicated 9mm.

Cheap, reliable 9mm. All steel construction.
See if you can hunt up a Zastava M88A.
It's a single stack SA.
I bought one a few years ago. I can't remember ever having a failure with it.
Very slim, and well balanced. Feels very 1911ish to me but smaller in every dimension.

This was on a list of mine as I have the Zastava Tokarev in 7.62x25 and would use the 9mm as a cheap trainer. The only issue I have is I dont like the sights not having an elevation adjustment and mag availability is awful for Zastava pistols.
