Statistics said:
Living in a home that contains guns increases the risk of homicide by more than 40%, according to the New England Journal of Medicine...
Because God forbid the victim (defend themselves) against an intruder. kinda doubting the implied domestic violence theme they have going on, myself.

The real interesting part is the source of the statistics that are often cited and the fact that the New England Journal of Medicine article that is so often cited by gun control groups was written based on unreviewed research. Later analysis of the research design, collection methods and analysis by research professionals in the area of criminology found that Dr. Kellerman used methods germane to his area of expertise, epidemiology, but entirely unsuited to studying anything other than infectious disease. There was no control. No causality was demonstrated or could even be implied from his data because there was nothing to compare against. In general, the research community gives Kellerman's "research" no weight and generally consider him a fraud.

Of course that hasn't kept the gun control groups from continuing to cite his "results". They pretty much have to. There has not been any credible research that shows a correlation between gun ownership and increased crime or death rates. On the contrary, essentially all above the board, peer reviewed, research has shown at worst a neutral relationship between guns and crime. There are some very interesting studies published out there, but you'll never hear about them in the mainstream media because the vast preponderance of the evidence points to the positive effects of gun ownership by the general population. Of particular interest is a certain Dr. Kleck who came into the picture as a gun control advocate and designed a series on research projects to prove his point. When every one of his studies reached the opposite conclusion, he actually changed his personal opinion on gun control. It's actually nice to see opinions based on reason possessed by someone with an open mind.

So because you are quoting somebody else its okay to violate board rules on political talk. I hate to be the one to shatter anybodies "the world is black and white delusion" but there are people who are generally considered liberal who support gun rights and people generally considered conservative who oppose them. Also, instead of some broad rant about liberals why not look into the New England Journal of Medicine's study and detemine wether or not it is valid?
If it walks like a duck and talks like a duck......... Its almost always a duck.

We can put our head in the sand, and say its a chicken all we want.

(its STILL a duck)

When actions from one group are continuosly and overwhelmingly one sided, its hard not to say

HERE IS THE PROBLEM!

Now that's a good point. I do believe that the world is made up of varying shades of gray, but I go with the preponderance of evidence.
