I have wanted a general purpose rifle can for years, and it finally sunk in that one is not going to just appear in my safe by itself, so I broke down and bought a 762SDN-6 on Friday. Sweet!

Right now I am planning to submit the following:

(2) Copies of the Form 4
(2) Copies of a "certificate of compliance" with 922
(1) Copy of my trust
(1) Check for $200 to ATF

Does that cover it?

I have done a couple Form 1 SBRs and a Form 4 Colt 6921 in the past, and have never submitted this "certificate of compliance" before. The dealer told me there was a recent change in the law that made this an additional requirement. I was wondering if anyone here could confirm that and/or supply some more background info. Does this need to be submitted on all SBR/suppressors from now on?

You would not normally include the certifcate of compliance (ATF Form 5330.20) because it is for individuals certifying their citizenship. The trust is not a "person" (which is why no photos or fingerprints are required) and has no citizenship per se. Your dealer may be aware of a change that hasn't filtered down yet, but a call to ATF NFA branch will settle the question.

If you already got it send it in, won't hurt anything. You are looking at a six month wait, why delay it longer.

On my first Trust can the dealer had me sign it and send it in. Five months later when I got another seems BATFE told them it wasn't needed for a Turst. Who knows if they've changed their mind again or not?

I haven't sent it in yet; will probably get it in the mail tomorrow. If it can't hurt anything I will just include it.

In the past all my stamps have taken almost exactly 3 months from box to box, but I haven't done one for a couple years or so.

Make sure form 4 is printed front+back on one sheet. If printing pages 1 & 2 on 2 sheets they will kick it back.....

You can pretty much count on at least six months these days. One from Feb just came back on Saturday, almost six months to the day.

They are really picking nits these days too, I had three transfers on my Trust with three different examiners, when a forth examiner had an issue with some of the wording in the body. My lawyer redrew it to fix his objection, but I'll give the examiner credit as after the correction I got the stamp back in a week.

This most recent one, an SBR I put the model number as engraved by the OEM: Model ST-15 cal 00 in the model box and they sent it back saying I had to draw a line through the cal 00. Go figure. Got the stamp back ten days later. This examiner had previously only done my suppressors.

Now it looks like everyone in Texas gets the same examiner for both form 1 & 4 so maybe things will be more consistent henceforth.

For my $200 they can at least supply me with the forms! I always sign up on their web site and order more when I'm down to my last two.

You only need one copy of the certificate of compliance.

We've had some trust transfers kicked back for correction because the item being transferred isn't listed on the trust Schedule A. Also, if you used the "trust in a box" and not an attorney make sure that your trust name is the same throughout the document; we've had two returned for that problem.

Got one question... on the Certification of Compliance form, all I have so far is "USA" entered in question 3, and have it signed and dated.

Do I need to enter anything else? Do I need to enter my name, or the name of my trust, or nothing, in box #2?

You don't need to send that in. A trust can't comply with 922.
