Will some off the shelf, hardware store brass polish work for use in tumbler medium, or is there something special about polish sold specifically for this purpose? Thanks.
Along these same lines. I have just begun reloading. I just reloaded & fired 99 of 100 .45acp. One round was bulged on one side & wouldn't chamber. I thought best & didn't try to force it. My question, I don't own a tumbler, is there any way to clean this brass for reloading by hand? Thanks!
In my tumbler I use crushed corn cob as media (its used for pet bedding/litter) and a few cap fulls of Iosso brass polish.......cases looks like a shiny penny.
Iosso also sells a kit......where you dunk the cases in a solution......for a few minutes....and the cases come clean. Can't verify the results as I don't use this method.
I hope this is not considered a thread highjack but I meant not polishing but cleaning them for reloading. I can't just pick my own brass back up & start reloading them again, can I? Stop shaking yer heads!
I think it's Iosso that has a liquid cleaner, comes in a 3 gal. bucket with a dunk tray. Load your brass into it and let it sit for a couple minutes, pull them out and shake them off, let dry and reload.
Folks, before I could afford a tumbler, I cleaned my brass in a 1/2 solution vinegar and water by soaking the brass in the vinegar and water, shaking it around from time to time, then after a couple of hours I'd rinse the cartridges out with clean water and dry them over night. The vinegar changed the brass color a little bit but I didn't see any other adverse reaction to using the vinegar.
