Suggest a 380 as a shooter

Before I got my 1911-380 I had the opportunity to examine it and both a Llama and a Baby Rock, all side by side. The Llama and the Baby Rock are virtually identical. The 1911-380 is larger and an entire level above the others in apparent quality; which for what it costs, it should be.

I don't know about that apparent quality thing. I do know that my BabyRock has shot every type of ammo I've loaded in it without a hiccup. Factory and lead handloads make no difference. It just goes bang every time and hits pretty much where I aim it. Four inch or a little less at seven yards with my shaky hands satisfies me. I can do better with bigger, heavier guns but5 that defeats the size advantage of the BR. It's finish has proved durable, the trigger is good, and it always goes bang so I'm happy. The only thing I didn't care for was the factory rubber grips and it wasn't a difficult chore to make a new set from pretty wood. In fact I've made two sets, one from spalted sycamore and the other from fancy walnut. I look at it this way: Everyone has different tastes so if you like one gun better than the other that's what you should get. I also like the size of the BabyRock. It's easy enough to get good grip on with my medium sized mitts but also small enough to stick in the cubbyhole on the console of my suv where it is easy to get to but is out of sight.

I had a Kahr P380 that was the perfect pocket gun. It wasn't reliable enough for me to keep it tho.

I actually don't have a .380, I skipped that (I get either .32 or 9 Mak for the gun in question). For a not-small, fun shooter, I'd lean towards either the CZ 83 or Beretta 84. I have the CZ 82 in 9x18, and the Beretta 81 in .32, and they're both NICE guns. The beretta might be a bit classier (although I might think that because my 81 is pristine, while my 82 has the old CZ paint job).

A Makarov is also a good way to go, especially if you can find a doublestack. I have a Baikal doublestack in 9x18, it's fun too.
