I'm looking for suggestions for a special/memorable crossbow hunting trip to share with my teenage daughter. The experience/adventure of the trip is important as is a different game opportunity (she has already taken a whitetail on our property and will have plenty of chances to do that again). The perfect trip would take place in August (before school starts in September), or during traditional school holidays: Columbus Day Weekend, Christmas - New Years, mid-February, week prior to Easter. I'd appreciate any suggestions, even if season doesn't fit this calendar.

Background: My oldest daughter is beginning to think about life after high school and it has really hit me that I only have a few years left during which we will be with each other on a daily basis. She enjoys hunting, but has not taken to rifle hunting because she doesn't like the noise. She really enjoys shooting my crossbow.

I thought antelope was a long range game. Do people really get them in that close? When is the season?

I would suggest an exotic hunt where you are guaranteed a shot at an animal she wouldn't have a chance at normally, like Axis deer or exotic sheep/rams. The exotic sheep/rams can be a fairly inexpensive hunt and are available in many parts of the country. Maybe a Spring turkey hunt?

Because August may be out of season for most places, I'd suggest as others have as well, that you try a hunting preserve, perhaps for an exotic, perhaps for a hog.
This place has a pretty good rep with the archery guys that I know, so should be good for a crossbow hunt.

They are open now up through I think May 15th.
You might be able to "get it done" before April, THEN add in a Spring Turkey hunt near where you live..., and so have a very memorable Spring.

Wow, that’s not far from home! We are in Western NY, so less than 6 hr drive. Very interesting.

We got our last doe at 65ish yds, year before, buddy popped his at 35 yds. It takes some knowing and doing, but it IS doable, time frame might match up for you, check wyoming, Nebraska, and maybe sd and colorado regs. Can't speak to the southwest herds/seasons....
