Suggestions for .223 bullets.

Can anyone please tell me if there will be a big difference in accuracy, between a 52 gr. B.T.H.Pt. and a 55 gr. v-max. ( both made by Hornady) if shooting from a Savage 200 with a 24 in. barrel and a 1:9 twist ?? Also, is a 52 gr. bullet large (powerful) enough for coyotes, or should one stay with 55 gr. bullets or larger? While I have your attention, does anyone have a good recipe in reloading these 2 bullets in named rifle ? Any tips are much appreciated. Duker.

Every gun is different.
What works wonderfully in mine may be horribly inaccurate in yours or vise versa.

I know that's not the answer you wanted, but it's the truth.

The 52gr and 55gr bullets are so close in weight I highly doubt you will notice much of a difference. Of course your rifle may like one better than the other much like some rifles will shoot a bullet of the same profile and weight from different companies one better than the other.

I have shot a Sierra's 52gr, 53gr and 55gr bullets from my bolt action .223 and saw very little change in accuracy when using the same powder and charge weights.

In the end you will have to shoot them and see how they react in your rifle...

I've shot both bullets in bulk in the past. If it were me and I was choosing a bullet to shoot the tightest groups with the least load development I would go with the v-max every time.

I don't think I've EVER had a gun that didn't shoot v-maxes like nobodies business. Which isn't to say the sierra's aren't good too it's just IME they take much more fine tuning of the load to reach top potential

I love V Max bullets, in 223 and 22-250. Work up loads and find which bullet your gun likes. No one can give you the ideal load for your gun.
