The Walther P99 is usually considered to be a first-rate gun.

The slide locking up before you've even fired it is highly unusual and the problem should be rectified for free by the dealer. If a private sale, bring it to a gunshop and someone will likely fix the problem quickly for nothing.

All the above guns could have had a problem from the box. Give the Walther P-99 a chance, they are good guns! Much better than their little PP's.
