Suggestions on AR-15-Primary use IPSC

I've been thinking about getting an AR-15 in .223 for a long time. Recently I got involved in IPSC shooting production class pistol and I am now in the process of joining a club. From time to time they have rifle courses.

So now my interest in the AR has been heightened again.

I shoot rifle LEFT HANDED so I Know my choices in manufacturers will be limited as I do want to purchased a left handed model.

I almost forgot, rifle has to be NJ legal (Post ban).

So here is the questions. What should I be looking for in the way a features in my initial purchase. I know you can add and change things down the road. But, what would do in the original build (ie. barrel length, fluting, shroud, finish, optics etc.)????I looked on the DPMS website and the choices are overwhelming

Again, primary use (I think) will be IPSC.
