Sugru

Well the makers are from Ireland/UK so most likely no they wouldn't. If it were Americans it would probably be different. You CAN actually make very similar compounds at home and skip buying it, I am sure you could get a post up on Instructables to inform the world of your new idea.

Anyway I have seen some dash mount stuff done with the compounds like MP3 players so you could probably form your own shell carriers for shotguns with it, or make a custom fit grip by plastering the wet compound over a regular gun grip and using your hand to mold it in shape.

Also the material does actually form a bond with some other materials (although it's trial and error) so addons for synthetic stocks may not be far fetched if it bonds to dashboards.

Yeah, I read the instructions on Instructables to make a similar substance (basically clear silicone and corn starch).

Downsides to the home made stuff are that it will be stinkier and less skin friendly, not as strong or firm and the Sugru is pretty cheap ($16.50 for the large pack, $9 for the small one plus $1.37 for shipping ... so the home made stuff is probably about the same cost when all is said and done).

I was thinking it would make for an interesting, formed and sticky grip for a handgun or rifle. I also thought of the IDPA/IPSC/3-Gun guys that wrap everything in grip tape.
